Melitta MEPT1B Perfect Time 12-Cup Coffeemaker
Equipped with a digital clock/timer tuned by a radio receiver to the U.S. atomic clock, this coffeemaker brews up to twelve 5-ounce cups of coffee and, because the clock/timer can be programmed up to 24 hours in advance, will begin the brewing process automatically for wake-up coffee. The clock is split-second accurate because it automatically adjusts, if necessary, to the atomic clock's signals six times every 24 hours. The atomic clock, operated by the National Institute of Standards and Technology, is one of the most accurate in the world.
The coffeemaker brews at a high temperature for speed--35 seconds per cup, with a four-cup minimum. For a quick pour, it automatically pauses the brewing process for 30 seconds when the carafe is removed from its warming plate. The glass carafe has a guard to protect the knuckles and is dishwasher-safe. On the coffeemaker's left side is a transparent gauge for monitoring the water level. The filter basket accommodates cone-shaped paper filters and removes for filling and cleaning. Lightweight and clad in bright plastic, the 1,450-watt coffeemaker has push-in cord storage, measures 13-1/2 inches high, 8 inches wide, and 9-1/2 inches deep, and carries a one-year warranty against defects. --Fred Brack
