Bodum Columbia Stainless-Steel Sugar and Creamer Set

Bodum Columbia Stainless-Steel Sugar and Creamer Set

Modern design can be far from sterile, as this stainless-steel sugar and creamer set from Bodum illustrates. Highly polished with a sensuous curve, each piece begs to be picked up and cradled in the hand. Measuring 2-3/4 by 2-3/4 inches, the rotund sugar bowl holds 3/4-cup of sugar, while the 4-inch-high creamer holds 1-1/4 cups of liquid. A press-fit lid for each keeps contents from spilling: the creamer’s lid with air hole is shaped to fit over the spout with just enough room to pour without removing, while an opening under the sugar’s lid allows the accompanying sugar spoon to protrude. Double-sided with blunt ends, the stainless-steel spoon provides the option of a large or small scoop of sugar. Or, one end can be used to scoop, the other to stir. The double-walled construction means cream stays cooler longer. Designed by Bodum’s creative genius Carsten Jorgensen, the set complements the Columbia line of bowls and thermal coffee and tea presses. --Ann Bieri
